Dry scalp
An itchy and flaky scalp are typical signs that it may be dry. It is easy to confuse dry scalp with dandruff. If the scalp flakes in small dust grains, it is probably a sign of dry scalp, while dandruff has larger and fatter white scales.
This can help!
1. Use shampoos that have gentle surfactants and don't "clean too clean". Many use a substance called SLS (sodium laureth sulfate) and it seems far too drying. Check out our gentle shampoos here, which all have Eco certified surfactants. Here you will find organic hair products .
2. Do a jojoba treatment for your scalp! You simply rub Jojoba oil into your scalp. It has a calming and balancing effect. Learn more about JOJOBA OIL here
3. Continuously brushing your scalp with a pig brush can have a positive stimulating effect!
Oily scalp
An oily scalp is caused by the sebaceous glands producing too much oil/sebum. The common mistake many people make is to wash their hair even more, which causes even more sebum to be produced and the vicious cycle begins.
This can help!
1. Wash your hair no more than every other day
2. Use a soothing shampoo. In our series, the best is Lingonberry Shampoo with Aloe Vera. You can find it HERE
3. Continuously brushing your scalp with a pig brush can have a positive stimulating effect!
Allergy
A red and itchy scalp may be due to an allergy to a substance in the hair products you use. Alcohols have an adverse effect on the scalp, as do many overly perfumed shampoos. Just like with any other sensitivity, you may need to “cut back” on the use of products and let your amazing body recover!
This can help!
1. Are you eating something that is causing you reactions? Consider whether you have more problems than just your scalp and where they might be coming from. Try a dairy-free month.
2. Try 24/7 Shampoo & Body Shower which is completely fragrance-free with Aloe Vera. Has a calming effect. You can find it here!
Dandruff
Dandruff comes from a yeast fungus and the fungus is normally found everywhere on the skin and is constantly renewed. It is when the outer skin cells come off and become visible that they are called dandruff. Illness, fatigue and stress increase the production of dandruff even more. You can have both dry and oily dandruff. Dry dandruff comes off in large flakes while oily dandruff usually sticks to the scalp. To get rid of dandruff, you need shampoos or treatments that contain antifungal agents. In the case of severe dandruff, you should contact your doctor for advice and possibly get stronger products.
This can work!
1. Diet! Believe it or not, our dear scalp can almost be seen as the chimney for our stomach. If you consume a lot of sugar, check it out! It may be worth trying a break from dairy products for a month.
2. Lingonberry Shampoo contains, in addition to Aloe Vera, a substance called benzoic acid. This has a soothing effect on dandruff! It is advisable to leave it on for 2 minutes when you apply it to the scalp. You can find it HERE and also other organic shampoos here.
Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a skin disease that can also appear on the scalp and causes red, scaly rashes. It is a hereditary disease and chronic. The symptoms can therefore be relieved but not completely cured. If you suspect that you have psoriasis, you should contact your doctor for advice.
This can work! - Tips from ℅ Gerd customers!
We have an incredible number of customers who choose to buy our organic Body Lotion Lingonberry. That was actually the reason we developed it in 1000 ml as several customers say that "it is one of the best at relieving their Psoriasis". NOTE! We do NOT claim that it is neither a medicine nor should it replace something that your doctor has recommended. But it is nice when our customers teach us things about our products and then it feels natural to pass that knowledge on.
