In 2008, we founded c/o GERD with a shared vision of making the beauty industry more sustainable. Since the beginning, our ambition has been the same - to create effective skincare with consideration for everything that lives and grows around us. Our work is guided by our core values - to protect nature, animals and people. They permeate every decision we make, from the choice of raw materials to product development and production.
About us
We are siblings, born and raised in northern Sweden, where our family has always had a deep love for nature and spent much of our time outdoors. Big sister Anna-Lena Wiklund Rippert trained as a skin therapist, medical podiatrist and masseuse, and ran a successful salon and day spa in Jokkmokk. Johan Alfon trained as a hairdresser and started his own salon at the age of 19.
How it all started
Anna-Lena currently works with GERD to develop products and educate our resellers on both the products and treatments used in salons and spas. She shares her passion for organic beauty products and the journey that led her there:
Different journeys, same destination
Johan is the CEO of c/o GERD and divides his time between our sales and marketing office in Stockholm and his small house deep in the forests of Lapland, not far from our beauty factory. His journey towards sustainable beauty products is similar to Anna-Lena's in many ways.
Our mother Gerd
Our lovely, lovely mother Gerd has inspired us throughout her life. She has taught us to care for nature and everything it provides, and we have grown up refining herbs, roots, berries, meat and fish. Mother has always said that you should take care of what you take from nature and never more than you need. This respectful relationship with nature is a core value that is deeply rooted in us thanks to her. Mother has also given us something invaluable – a positive mind-set, long before the concept became popular. Her outlook on life and her way of being are the foundation of everything we do. That is why we named our company after our mother Gerd, as a tribute to her and the values she conveyed.
