It's about taking care of your physical, mental and emotional health. By taking care of yourself, you improve your life, achieve balance and become generally happier and calmer.
Stopping and taking a few deep breaths is something that can make a big difference to your health. Sit down and breathe in for four seconds, focus on breathing all the way down into your stomach, hold your breath, and then breathe out for four seconds.
Walk more. Physical activity is good for mental health. A short walk, even just in the hallway at the office to get some movement during the day, makes a difference – even just five minutes!
Lighten your mental load by taking a few minutes to think about what thoughts you can clear out that are weighing on your mind. Can you put off a tough decision that you don't need to make today?
Give your body some care. Spend five minutes a day massaging yourself, applying a face mask, doing a facial scrub, or filing your feet. A short moment both morning and evening will make you relax and feel good.
Set aside five minutes during the day to write down how you feel. Writing down your thoughts helps you relax and takes a weight off your shoulders.
Take a break from your phone and social media. Most of us spend too much time on social media and in front of screens. We take in so much information and impressions that it can feel overwhelming. The best thing you can do for your mental health is to put your phone on silent mode for a while every day and not check it during that time.
